A strategic initiative to strengthen U.S. national and economic security by enhancing global semiconductor supply chain resilience.
Under the leadership of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Economic, Energy, and Business Affairs, Arizona State University (ASU) is implementing the Skills Accelerator Portal (Portal) is a centralized platform designed to secure semiconductor supply chains and strengthen U.S. technological leadership.
The Portal delivers targeted, cost-effective learning pathways in critical areas such as semiconductor assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP), advanced manufacturing, and emerging technologies. Through strategic investment in human capital development, it enables institutions and professionals with the capabilities needed to support a resilient, secure, and U.S.-aligned semiconductor ecosystem.
By advancing U.S. industrial strength, protecting critical investments, and driving domestic prosperity, the platform reinforces American competitiveness and ensures a stronger semiconductor future.
Securing the U.S. semiconductor supply chains through the U.S. leadership by advancing human capital development, expanding technical capabilities, and reinforcing trusted global semiconductor ecosystems aligned with American interests.
The Skills Accelerator Portal aims to diversify and strengthen the global semiconductor supply chain to support U.S. economic interests, focusing on assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP) operations in allied partner countries.
Yes. Access is provided at no cost to eligible participants, subject to license availability.
Your license is active for 60 days from the date of activation. The 60-day period begins when your license is activated—not when you start your first course. We recommend beginning your coursework as soon as your access is activated.
No. The 60 days apply to your entire license, not to each individual level. You may complete multiple levels during your active 60-day period.
Not necessarily. You may select the level that best matches your existing knowledge and experience. However, once you select a level, the courses within that level must be completed in the required sequence.
Contact [email protected] and include your full name, the email address associated with your Coursera account, the level you completed, and the level or pathway you would like to take next.
Additional access is subject to license availability and is not guaranteed. If licenses are available, you may be asked to reapply using the same email address associated with your Coursera account.
Use the same email address associated with your Coursera account. This helps the program team correctly identify your account and process your access.
.
Participants who successfully complete an eligible level receive the applicable Coursera certificate and Arizona State University (ASU) recognition, along with the associated digital credential. Recognition is tied to the level completed; you do not need to complete all three levels first.
.
Students can access Technical Skills pathways designed to build knowledge and capabilities relevant to semiconductor supply chains, including areas such as packaging, characterization and materials, supply chain, testing and reliability, advanced manufacturing, and English & Professional Skills.
Students may select the level that best matches their existing knowledge and experience. Beginner is a good starting point for participants who are new to a subject, while participants with relevant experience may select a more advanced level.
No. Faculty Development content is specifically designed for instructors. Students participate through the Technical Skills pathways.
Faculty can access both Technical Skills and Faculty Development content. This allows instructors to strengthen their technical knowledge while also developing strategies for effectively teaching technical content.
Faculty must first complete at least one Technical Skills level. After completing the technical requirement, faculty can access the Faculty Development content.
No. Faculty do not need to complete Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Completion of at least one eligible Technical Skills level is required before accessing the pedagogical content.
Experiencing the technical content first allows faculty to understand the learning experience, evaluate the relevance and level of the content, and identify pathways that may be appropriate for their students. Faculty can then complement that experience with pedagogical resources.
No. Unlike the structured Technical Skills pathways, Faculty Development resources are flexible, allowing faculty to select content based on their instructional interests and needs.
Faculty can use their experience with the portal to identify relevant learning pathways and appropriate levels for their students. Institutions may determine how these resources can complement existing courses or other academic activities.
Industry professionals can access Technical Skills pathways designed to strengthen capabilities relevant to semiconductor supply chains and related technical and professional areas.
Participants should select pathways based on their professional background, current responsibilities, and development needs. The portal offers different subject areas and learning levels to accommodate varying levels of experience.
Not necessarily. Industry participants with relevant knowledge or experience may select the level that best matches their background.
Faculty Development resources are specifically designed for instructors. Industry professionals participate primarily through the Technical Skills pathways.
Follow these steps to apply:
1. Explore the available learning pathways
Visit the Skills Accelerator Portal to review the available Technical Skills pathways, learning areas, and levels:
https://itsi-skillsaccelerator.org/
2. Select your pathway and level
Choose the learning pathway and level that best match your background, experience, and learning goals.
3. Complete the application form
When you are ready to participate, submit your application here:
https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/01c2e50d918d45bc93f1dfeab7ebdf43
4. Use your Coursera email address
When completing the application, use the same email address associated with your Coursera account. This is important for processing your application and activating your course access.
5. Watch for your access information
Once your application has been processed and your license is activated, you can begin your selected learning pathway through Coursera.
Important: Your 60-day access period begins when your license is activated, not when you begin your first course. We recommend applying when you are ready to actively participate and beginning your coursework as soon as access is activated.
