Foundations of Teaching for Learning: Introduction to Student Assessment

The Foundations of Teaching for Learning program is designed for anyone who teaches, or aspires to teach, in any subject and context, whether at school, at home, or in the workplace.

For several decades, assessment has become an increasingly pressing educational priority. Teacher and school accountability systems have come to rely on the analysis of large-scale, standardized summative assessments.

In this course, you will learn to design assessments tailored to the needs and language proficiency levels of your English Language Learners (ELLs). You will learn to incorporate linguistic and content requirements into both formative and summative assessments.

Welcome to Performance Assessment in the Virtual Classroom! This course will help you effectively assess student performance virtually, including compliance issues, feedback models, online gradebook functions, and data analysis.

This course teaches you the simple principles that expert managers use to improve and motivate employee performance. You’ll never again have to shy away from telling an employee “the truth,” because the seven techniques we teach won’t put employees on the defensive or scare them.

By the end of this project, you have used Google Forms to create several tools to use with your students and parents in order to ensure a successful school year. With volunteer sign-up forms, you can simplify your volunteer process within your classroom and across the school.

By the end of this project, you be able to evaluate students in real time and provide immediate feedback using Socrative. With Socrative, you can create personalized activities and engage students in games that encourage full participation as they learn.

By the end of this project, you will have created a self-report card and a behaviour reflection form for student self-reflection. You will also be equipped with suggestions for how to use these documents with students.

Practicing Collaborative, Continuous Improvement

Practicing Collaborative, Continuous Improvement supports local change agents in developing foundational capabilities for iterative analysis, design, implementation, and evaluation.

Once we have generated the data, we need to answer the research question by performing appropriate statistical analysis. Engineers and business professionals need to know which test or tests to use. This course will enable you to conduct one-sample tests to compare with historical data.

Huyen Nguyen is the Program Coordinator, Indo-Pacific Region for the Diversifying Semiconductor Supply Chain project in the Vietnam representative office for Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University. Huyen supports the coordination and implementation of ISTI activities in the Indo-Pacific region countries.

Ha supports the collection and management of ITSI project datasets, ensuring data accuracy and integrity.

Melissa Stine is the Program Manager of Strategic Initiatives in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and the Program Manager, Americas Region, for the Diversifying Semiconductor Supply Chain project, overseeing the implementation of project activities within the Americas Region countries.

Sr. Manager for Monitoring and Evaluation

Thai Tran serves as Sr. Manager for Monitoring and Evaluation in the Vietnam representative office for Ira A. Thai oversees the comprehensive quality assurance of all ITSI project deliverables, ensuring activities meet project KPIs and align with the established quality criteria.

Jesús Silva Elizalde serves as the Associate Director of Operations for the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund, Diversifying Semiconductor Supply Chains Project in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). Leveraging vast USAID, Chips Act, and semiconductor experience, Jesús oversees the implementation of all ITSI activities.

Jose Quiroga

Managing Director

Jose A. Quiroga is the Director of Global Development in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering (FSE) at Arizona State University (ASU) and the Managing Director of the Diversifying Semiconductor Supply Chains Project at ASU, funded by the US Department of State through the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund. This program aims to enhance workforce capabilities within semiconductor assembly, testing, and packaging (ATP) operations across key partner countries. By prioritizing workforce development activities, the initiative seeks to create a sustainable pipeline of skilled professionals essential for the semiconductor industry’s growth and resilience.

Jeffrey Goss

Principal Investigator

Jeffrey Goss is a prominent leader in global and professional development, holding roles as Associate Vice Provost SE Asia, Executive Director, and Assistant Dean in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU). With over 25 years of experience, he has significantly impacted STEM education and workforce development globally. Mr. Goss is Principal Investigator for the International Technology Security and Innovation (ITSI) Fund. His leadership has advanced STEM education and strengthened supply chains in the Americas and Indo-Pacific, enhancing global semiconductor ecosystems.
